Energy While Drifting

The time was 11:49am when I decided to take a walk to a place that was nearby my apartment, but somewhere I never really paid attention to. I usually walk around the right side of this one particular Rutgers building; The Ruth Adams Building on Douglass Campus, daily. However, this day I decided to walk around the left side of the building and realized I was travelling towards an open field. I really didn't know that geography could be altered so greatly just by going in another direction. I didn't avoid walking in the place on purpose, I just never knew that it existed until I saw others walking that way. I also wasn't drifting alone of course, I had my roommate walking next to me and I had a Coors Light Cooler full of non-alcoholic drinks. In fact, the irony is that I had a bunch of Gatorade, Snapple and Poland Spring Water Bottles. After walking into this long open field it occured to me that this was the perfect place to create a path that represented a pattern consistent with my vibrant personality. The drinks in the bag are representational of energy, life, and rejuvination. I documented a few videos of the path that I created which appears to be linear but really isn't. I didn't really take many pictures of this path because I wanted to show my path through movement instead of creating an image of still life. Inspirations thanks to the exhibitions of Richard Long, which are fasinating in that he chose to display some of the most interesting circular paths created. His mode of complexity lies within a subtle image of simplicity. Also, drifiting alone is interesting, but others can easily drag along beside you and they too influence your direction, your meaning and your path.

Traffic Patterns

Monitoring traffic patterns of route 18, time out of time.

Different patterns are always produced every second of the day/night.

Time of emptiness below while traffic still moves above.

Vehicles positioned in different ways in a particular place. Moving in various directions through space and at every moment(time) different vehicles appear.

Without It I'm Frantic!

My wristlet, I can't go anywhere without it. It's something that I just have to have. Some people feel naked when they don't have certain everyday things with them. My wristlet has all of my daily necessities meaning i feel like a part of me is missing if i don't carry it with me everyday. Its smaller than a purse and bigger than a wallet, it's a wallet-purse in other words. The term "wristlet" i know i definitely coined from fellow coach co. lovers. From time to time it gets a little chaotic in the small pouch because i try to stuff everything else that should be carried separately like my cell phone, my keys, a lighter, Visin, and chapstick. I always have my debit card and Id cards for all sorts of things and my insurance card in case of an emergency. There were times when I left my wrislet somewhere and looked for it for hours. I got really paranoid from that day, only because when you have something with you all the time, you feel lost or incomplete in some way that you don't have it. I became frantic all the times i lost it..but when i found it, i had a sense of relief everytime. Also, I noticed that as i carried different wristlets since I was maybe 16 years old, the things that have been put in it have also varied. I guess it makes sense now, as you get older the things that you carry with you because more important and are probably more useful. Bottom line, it really has become an augmentation on me because its always hanging off my arm whenever I move from place to place.
